The car he was driving suffered a technical problem with its brakes on the backstretch at 200kph. In the very late evening it was announced that the stewards of the meeting received a report from the Technical Delegate explaining that the thickness of the front skid block of car no. 7 doesn’t comply with article 3.5.6 a3 of the LMP1 Technical Regulations. With the sun still shining over the Northamptonshire circuit, the last 60 minutes proved the usual down to the wire ending that has became unanimous with the WEC championship. Heading into the final hour the No. 2 Porsche driven by Neal Jani had a 54 second lead over the second placed Audi of Marcel Fassler but the Porsche was still to pit.
