Text: Rick Kiewiet Images: Ford Racing Ford Racing's Hypercar contender for the FIA World Endurance Championship has been pictured on track for the first time, with the American manufacturer releasing images from testing at Paul Ricard as it builds towards a 2027 debut. The car, still unnamed and wearing a camouflage livery, ran its first proper track test on 17 August, following a shakedown programme that began on 5 August at the driving centre adjacent to the circuit. WEC has confirmed Barcelona and Monza will close out its 2026 season, with the Qatar and Bahrain rounds scrapped for good after the Gulf ceasefire collapsed, and a scoring change for the championship's closing races.

The inaugural BRDC Classic at Silverstone on 24-26 July 2026 brings the debut Endurance Icons grid, the GT3 Legends season finale, Historic Formula Junior and a ten-category programme of historic racing to the Grand Prix circuit.

After three years of frustration, Toyota is back on top at La Sarthe. The No.7 of Kobayashi, Conway and de Vries beat BMW and the sister Toyota in a strategy-defined 94th Le Mans. Here is the full result across Hypercar, LMP2 and LMGT3, and what it means for the WEC title fight.

The FIA World Endurance Championship expands to nine rounds in 2027, with Silverstone back on the schedule for the first time since 2019. The Hypercar, LMGT3 and full WEC field will tackle Qatar, Imola, Silverstone, Spa, the 95th 24 Hours of Le Mans, Sao Paulo, Austin, Fuji and Bahrain.

BMW will lead the field away at Le Mans for the first time in the Hypercar era after Jack Aitken's apparent pole lap for Cadillac was deleted, handing top spot to Dries Vanthoor's record 3:22.564. In LMP2, Esteban Masson set the pace only for a penalty to give IDEC Sport pole, while Mattia Drudi claimed back to back LMGT3 poles for Heart of Racing.

The fastest LMGT3 car of the opening night will start from the back. Racing Team Turkey by TF have been disqualified from Le Mans qualifying over a rear diffuser infringement, handing Proton Competition the class's quickest time and promoting Team Qatar by Iron Lynx into the final Hyperpole place.

Alpine set the pace on the opening night of Le Mans qualifying, but the real drama came at the back of the Hypercar field, where both works Peugeots and the Ferrari that won this race last year all missed the Hyperpole cut.
