Wednesday forecast update for the FIA WEC, Six Hours of Silverstone
The initial forecast that I made on Monday still seems to be generally on track, but I've made a few tweaks for today's update. The main change has been to add a slight chance of rain on Sunday afternoon, however I still expect that impacts on the race will be very low. Rain associated with a deep upper level trough and surface cold front is still expected to move across England late tonight and into Thursday. Although it will likely be wet for scrutineering, the rain will b

FIA WEC: 6 Hours of Silverstone, Weather
A low pressure system will move through Silverstone on Thursday, which will make for a wet day for scrutineering. Fortunately, the rest of the event looks like it should be mostly free of rain, with mostly cloudy skies, breezy winds, and comfortable temperatures. The low pressure system that brings rain on Thursday will be long gone by Friday, and a weak ridge will build over France and southern England. With a mix of sun and clouds and a westerly wind, temperatures will rem

Le Mans Report, after the dust settled...
So the 86th running of the Le Mans 24 hours is over and we think the dust has settled on this, the first of two visits to Le Mans during this FIA World Endurance Championship super season. Way back on the Sunday of scrutineering, as the cars arrived to a wet Place de la Republic, we may have been forgiven for thinking that the result was already known and that Toyota would win the race… but what would be in store for the teams and drivers on their journey to the flag… remembe

Forecast update for the Six Hours of Spa
Apologies for the lateness of this update - I was sick in bed with the flu all day yesterday. But the good news is that the forecast for the Six Hours of Spa is looking better and better. Considering the typical cool and wet conditions that the race can often have, the weather this weekend looks spectacular. Racecast: First forecast for the FIA WEC Total Six Hours of Spa
The WEC Super Season begins this weekend at the beautiful Circuit Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Overall, the weather looks pretty good, but there are some caveats with that. Forecasting for Belgium can be very tricky due to its proximity to the North Sea to the north and the Alps to the south, and southern Belgium has quite a varied terrain itself. The details of the weather conditions can vary greatly on a local scale, and I'm certainly not a local expert. Plus, the models a

Spa Francorchamps - Circuit Review
As part of our build up to the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, we take a look at the famous Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Designed in 1920 by Jules de Thier and Henri Langlois Van Ophem, the original triangle-shaped course used public roads between the Belgian towns of Francorchamps, Malmedy, and Stavelot. The track was intended to have hosted its inaugural race in August 1921, however this event had to be cancelled as there was only one entran
