‘Silverstone Slip-up' for Toyota

'Hugely frustrating' and 'we will urgently seek to address the issues' were phrases used in Toyota Gazoo Racing's post qualifying press release.

With gaps of 4.996 for the #6 and 6.905 for #5 off the pole time, the two TS050 hybrids proved to be uncompetitive. Unsuitable control settings for the conditions gave the drivers no chance in today's wet 20 minute qualifying session.

‘It has been a challenging day weather-wise and that has put us a bit out of synch with the settings of our car, which are very complex. We are running in conditions that we simply haven’t experienced before with theTS050 HYBRID and therefore have run into some problems. We need to go away and learn from days like this; these experiences make us stronger’ commented a frustrated Anthony Davidson.

Toyota are hoping to complete strongly in tomorrow’s race when the weather is expected to be much improved.
