British GT fans should be expecting a close one at Brands Hatch this weekend.
This weekend sees the penultimate round of the 2017 British GT Championship and there is the potential of both classes being decided on the 2.4 mile Brands Hatch GP circuit. In the GT3 teams championship, Barwell Motorsport lead Team Parker Racing going into Round 8, but it is more likely this battle will continue on to the season finale at Donnington park in September. It is much closer however in GT4 with the point gap down to 2.5 between current leaders HHC Motorsport

Driver spotlight: Callum Macleod
Callum Macleod’s tale of down-and-out single-seater hopeful to British GT race winner is one to inspire other would-be professionals, reckons British GT's Tom Hornsby. ‘Talented single-seater racer seeks professional GT career’. It’s the headline etched on countless driver CVs thanks to the ever-growing popularity and factory contracts available in GT3 racing around the world. For younger drivers the GT4 class - now also swelled by manufacturer interest - offers an ideal pr

If the mission ends early...
IF…. and that’s a big ‘IF’ Porsche decide to leave the World Endurance Championship at the end of 2017, does this really mean the end of the Championship as some people are predicting? We at Prescott Motorsport think not! And if you are reading this post any announcement having been made from Stuttgart either to continue with their LMP1 programme or not, we still think not! We always knew in the back of our minds that this period of time prior to new regulations coming i

Griffin ready to tackle that world's biggest GT race for the 8th time
Irish racing driver Matt Griffin heads to Belgium this weekend for the iconic Spa 24, part of the Blancpain GT Series calendar and the biggest GT race in the world with an entry of 66 cars. Griffin will drive the number 52 AF Corse entered Ferrari 488 GT3, with teammates Duncan Cameron and Aaron Scott. This will be the Irishman’s 8th consecutive year racing in Spa 24, which includes a race win in 2013, and podium finishes in 2011 and 2015. "The 24h of Spa really is one of

Clearwater Racing retain points lead in Germany
Clearwater Racing leave the Nurburgring still leading the WEC in the GTE-Am class by finishing 4th in class!! Our race can only really be described as fraught....we lost 20 seconds during our first pit stop with a sticking seat belt. Unfortunately Weng then had his first off in more than 6 years at the high speed turn 5 but fortunately the car, very cooperatively, bounced harmlessly off the soft barriers and Weng was able to continue unscathed but we dropped more than a mi

One-Two for Porsche in Germany... where else!
Porsche put another hat trick in the record books by winning their third in a row 6 Hours of Nürburgring having taken the top spot in both 2015 and ’16. Timo Bernhard (DE), Earl Bamber (NZ) and Brendon Hartley (NZ) put the #2 Porsche 919 Hybrid into the lead for the final time after a quick splash and dash on lap 197, but in all honesty either of the 919’s could have won the race. Finishing a mere 1.606 seconds ahead of the sister, a 1-2 for Porsche on home soil can only be

Callum Ilott to make FIA F2 race debut at British GP
FIA European F3 front-runner Callum Ilott will make his FIA Formula 2 race debut on home soil at Silverstone this weekend. The one-off arrangement will see the 18-year-old drive for Italian team Trident at the British GP track, the scene of Ilott’s first 2017 F3 victory back in April. With the contract only signed on Tuesday afternoon, Ilott heads directly to the track today for a seat fitting before his first run in the opening practice on Thursday. “I’m really happy to

FIA WEC, 6h Nurburgring weather - Updated
The opening day of on track action at Nurburgring will likely have some rain. A cold front will be moving across the area in the morning, but a high chance of rain will continue through the day as the upper level trough moves through. There is pretty good model agreement on this general pattern, so I have a high chance of rain at 70%. Rain amounts at this time appear to be between 0.15 and 0.3 inches, or between 4 and 8 mm. The upper level trough will be east of the area by

The Norton, wine & cars...
If you are not able to make it to Germany this weekend and fancy a cheeky pint or a glass of class wine and some supercars.... get yourselves down to The Norton (my local) in Essex and join Boris and Nora for their inaugural car show and its in aid of Billy Monger, find out more here

Podium finish for Matt Palmer in Zandvoort
It was the "fly away" race of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge season at the weekend. Hosted by the legendary Zandvoort Circuit as part of their British Race Festival Weekend. Qualifying took place on a damp track but a dry line in places. Matt gambled on it drying out and went out on slicks for the entire session. The gamble paid off and on the last lap of the session I put it on P4 for race 1. Race 1: Matt made a good start and was in touch with the top 3 for the majority of t

Germany Calling...
In just over a week’s time the FIA World Endurance Championship will begin its fourth round at the Nürburgring in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany. Porsche will be looking for yet another hat-trick after winning here in both 2015 and 16, and looking to extend their lead in the Championship before the WEC family heads off for its summer break! Toyota will be hoping they’ve left the gremlins behind in France and can pick up on their pre-Le Mans winning streak by b

Diary of a 1st time Le Mans photographer
So the 85th edition of the Le Mans 24 hour race has been and gone! It was my 11th time at the race but my first time the other side of the fence. Whilst we are a growing website with some great news articles and images, even if I do say so myself, this does not guarantee your application to the ACO for media accreditation will be successful. However, after building a very good relationship with Clearwater Racing our application went in to the ACO and we waited…. Then, 18 da

Le Mans, Race Report
The 85th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours was a crazy old race, and the shenanigans didn’t finish after the chequered flag either! At more than one stage throughout the 24 hours the possibility of an overall all LMP2 podium was looking like it might happen! Having spent over an hour in the pits during the 4th hour with a front axle drive issue, the #2 Porsche of New Zealander’s Earl Bamber and Brendon Hartley, and Germany’s Timo Bernhard most definitely looked like it’s race

BREAKING NEWS: 13 Vaillante Rebellion disqualified from Le Mans

This means the DC Jackie Chan racing team have claimed 2nd and 3rd overall in the ra

Clearwater #61 - Le Mans post warm up
Clearwater Racing’s Weng Sun Mok will have the honour of starting today’s 85th running of the Le Mans 24 Hour. One of only two gentlemen (bronze) driver to take the start, Weng is feeling very confident after this morning’s warm up: “It was excellent, it gave me a lot of confidence, I didn’t drive this set up during quali because they made a few tweaks before the night session which I didn’t take part in but the car felt really really good and I had a good run. Tried to do

Le Mans Preview, Part 4... The GTE Am's
The 2017 Le Mans preview concludes with a look at the GT Am Class: Aston Martin Racing (#98) Aston Martin Vantage Top AM car on test day was the #98 of Lamy/dalla Lana/Lauda, a 3:58 250 showing a good pace around the Sarthe track. Coming off a win at Spa, will 2017 be the year that these three finally get the win they richly deserve? The preparation of the car is to the usual high Prodrive standard, the car itself reliable so it’s the three who will be at the wheel who will

Le Mans Preview, Part 3... the GTE Pro's
During the upcoming build up to Le Mans, Mark Atkins has been taking us through the runners and riders continuing now onto the GTE PRO field. Corvette Racing (#64) Corvette C7 A surprising quickest GT car at the test was the Chevy Corvette, the IMSA squad making their annual trip across the Atlantic for Le Mans. This year, Audi’s Marcel Fässler returns to the team for the first time since God was a boy, I can’t recall him driving anything other than an Audi to be honest! I
