British GT - BMW enter championship
Century Motorsport is switching from Ginettas to the brand new BMW M4 GT4 for 2018.
After running Ginettas since 2009, Century Motorsport will now be running a pair of the brand new BMW M4 GT4's with Ben Tuck and Ben Green behind the wheel. The other BMW line up has yet to be announced.
Tuck raced the Century Motorsport Ginetta GT3 at the last British GT event at Donington back in September and will now be racing all season for the team. His team mate, Ben Green, raced for Century in the 2017 GT4 Supercup and ended the season as championship runner-up. Green is also no stranger to the British GT after racing JRM Group's Nissan GT-R Nismo again at Donington.
With Green on the grid, it will renew the battle he had with Callum Pointon (who has signed with HHC Motorsport) with whom he had a great season battle with over the Ginetta GT4 Supercup at which Pointon ultimatley won.
“I'm very excited to be signing up with Century Motorsport for my second year of racing with the team,” said Green. “We had a lot of success in 2017 and I'm looking forward to carrying this on into 2018.”
“I can’t wait to get the season started! I’ve raced with Century before at Donington in 2017 so I know the team well, and I’ve known Ben for a few years through college and through working with him, so the relationships are already there,” said 20-year-old Tuck. “This is the biggest year for me so far in terms of championship and exposure.
Nathan Freke, team principal of Century Motorsport said “2018 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for us. To bring BMW back to the British GT Championship with two M4 GT4s is a fantastic opportunity for us, and one that we are relishing. We have one extremely strong driver pairing confirmed, and the second pairing looks to be just as exciting.”
The GT4 class is now certainly going to be interesting this year with the likes of Jaguar and Mercedes all new to the championship for 2018.
The season starts again March 31 – 2 April at Oulton Park.
