A bad day at the office for Clearwater Racing

‘In any job, there's always going to come a day that can only be described as ‘a bad day at the office’… well today was a very bad day at the office for us at Clearwater Racing’ team Managing Director Arj Pillay Kulasegaram said after the 6 Hours of Mexico.

The 61 Ferrari 488 GTE started from 4th in class with Weng Sun Mok holding on to that 4th place in GTE AM until 32 minutes into his stint when there was contact at Turn One with the 92 Porsche GTE PRO causing damage to both cars. As a result of the incident the Ferrari had to serve a drive thru penalty.

Arj said “We received a drive through penalty for the contact and a late call to Weng to serve the penalty resulted in another penalty for speeding in the pit lane....like I said, it really wasn't our day”.

Driver Matt Griffin commented: “It was not a perfect weekend for us, damage early on compromised our race, but we will fight back at CoTA”.

The dragon liveried Ferrari was tended to with the addition of racer tape (colour coded of course!) and was able to continue and finish the race 2 laps off the Spirt of Race Ferrari.

The team are now P2 in the GTE AM teams championship having slipped 2 points behind the Dempsey Proton team but they remain positive, especially with the end of the season on familiar ground for the Asian team… it’s still all to play for!

Next up is the Lone Star Le Mans at the Circuit of The America’s in Austin, Texas and Prescott Motorsport can be found back trackside!!!
