The BTCC Heads North
The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads north of the border this weekend as it makes its annual trip to the Knockhill circuit in Fife, with the championship heading towards a dramatic climax.
With more than 200 points left up for grabs this season, every point is vital in the run up to the Brands Hatch finale. Knockhill always throws up some surprises and some door banging action and this weekend will be no different.
Its been a real back and forth championship so far between Colin Turkington and Tom Ingram. Leaving Croft, it was Turkington who headed the standings, but after a below par weekend at Snetterton, it was Ingram who lead the way. Coming off the back of a strong weekend at Rockingham last time out though, it is once again the BMW man who leads the charge coming into this weekend.
With time running out for some drivers, this weekend will also be key for any drivers outside of the top 2, wanting to get in on the championship challenge. Matt Neal and Jack Goff are two outsiders in the run in and will both need strong weekends to keep in touch with this seasons two big hitters.
Notoriously, Knockhill is a circuit that favours the rear wheel drive cars, so expect the BMW's to be up there, but also don't discount the Subaru pair of Ashley Sutton and Jason Plato. It was at Knockhill last year, where Sutton and Plato had a dominant weekend and having the pair up there this weekend could surely throw a spanner in the works.
With the weather looking like it'll be playing a huge part once again, we will begin for a frantic and epic weekend in equal measure.
