MSR, Acura to Field Two GTP Entries in 2025

The first domino of the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech Championship "silly season," has fallen, as Honda Racing Corporation USA announced today that Meyer Shank Racing will return in 2025 to field two Acura ARX-06 GTP entries next season. The move is expected to replace the outgoing relationship between Acura and Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti, who has been rumored to be moving to Cadillac machinery for 2025.


The multi-year deal with see one Acura ARX-06 engineered by HRC US while the second entry to be overseen by Meyer Shank Racing. With drivers yet to be announced for the 2025 campaign, the Ohio based team will return to the top class of IMSA after a one year absence.





HRC US President David Salters stated today that, "Running our own GTP car is the next, exciting step for our associates at HRC US. We race to develop our people and technology and we are thrilled to be partnering with MSR to race our ARX-06 against some of the world’s best sports car teams. This is why the next logical step for us is race engineer our own car: buckle-up HRC boys and girls.”


Meyer Shank Racing co-owner Michael Shank added, "First, on behalf of everyone at Meyer Shank Racing, I want to express our gratitude to David Salters and everyone at HRC and Acura for giving us this opportunity. We are supremely grateful to have earned this new opportunity and everyone on the team is looking forward to day one in our new relationship with Acura, and the new role we’ll be playing in HRC US’s IMSA program.”


The move back to Meyer Shank Racing comes at the expense of Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti, who has fielded Acura's for the past four seasons. With the impending departure of Chip Ganassi Racing from Cadillac, the prime position for WTR with Andretti to land in 2025 is with the American manufacturer.
