Max Chilton hails "AMAZING RESULT" at first Verizon Indycar oval experience at Phoenix

Following his successful Verizon IndyCar debut at St Petersburg, Max shone in his first oval outing at the Desert Diamond West Valley Phoenix Grand Prix. His pace was quick all weekend and he was first to break the 190mph barrier in the lead up to the 250 lap race.

Max has shown a natural ability to adapt to the oval courses following an IndyLights win at Iowa's oval speedway in 2015 with British team Carlin. This time out with his #8 Chip Ganassi car, he was fighting at the sharp end throughout the race after starting from 8th to finish in 7th place and pick up top rookie. He sits 10th in the Championship standings after 2 races.

Max Chilton, No. 8 Gallagher Chevrolet: “I think this was an amazing result for me. We were able to move forward and stay up near the front of the pack for most of the race. I think I was even in the top five for a while, but got caught in some traffic and got shuffled back a bit. I’m really pleased with the result considering this is my first oval race in this series. Big props to the team for making the No. 8 Gallagher Chevrolet so easy to drive.”

Next up is the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on the 17th April on the temporary street circuit, last years winner was Scott Dixon.
