Ginetta announce the sale of 3 LMP1 cars

UK based Ginetta Cars announced today that they have taken formal orders and deposits for the first three sales of their new for 2018 LMP1 endurance racing car.

The cars, purchased by an as yet un-named single customer team, are bound for a proposed two car 2018/19 FIA WEC effort (including both the 2018 and 2019 Le Mans 24 Hours) with the third car intended as a spare.

Lawrence Tomlinson, Ginetta Cars Chairman: “This is a big step forward for the programme, and will be great news too for the FIA WEC and the ACO who have placed a lot of faith in their new LMP1 regulations.

For now you’ll have to wait for our customer to make their own announcement on this programme. The signs are that they will soon be joined by more Ginetta customers in the top LMP1 class, and that a car conceived in our Yorkshire factory will soon be contesting overall wins in the World Endurance Championship, including at the world’s biggest race, the Le Mans 24 Hours.”

The Ginetta LMP1 has been designed by a world class team coordinated at Ginetta’s Garforth, Yorkshire base.

Ginetta Technical Director Ewan Baldry’s in-house team has been bolstered by a range of world-class contractors and consultants including Adrian Reynard, Paolo Catone and aerodynamicist Andy Lewis, with technical partners Williams Advanced Engineering, XTrac, Ohlins, ARS (chassis and composites), AP Racing, Megaline, Bosch and AVL Racing (Simulation) all playing vital roles in the design, development and construction of the new car.

The order sees three of the planned 10 car production run accounted for with a fourth car already designated as Ginetta’s development car. The first chassis is already in production with testing expected to get underway in November. Six chassis remain available for sale with Ginetta targeting sales to two other two car efforts and with several interested parties in advanced discussions.
