British GT fans should be expecting a close one at Brands Hatch this weekend.
This weekend sees the penultimate round of the 2017 British GT Championship and there is the potential of both classes being decided on the 2.4 mile Brands Hatch GP circuit.
In the GT3 teams championship, Barwell Motorsport lead Team Parker Racing going into Round 8, but it is more likely this battle will continue on to the season finale at Donnington park in September. It is much closer however in GT4 with the point gap down to 2.5 between current leaders HHC Motorsport and Lanan Racing.
This weekend’s race features two additional GT3 entries. One of Century Motorsport’s two Ginetta G55s competes in the hands of a new line-up to be announced this Wednesday, while Mike Brown and Matt Manderson – who contested several British GT rounds last season – return with their Aston Martin V12 Vantage
Joining the British GT at Brands will be the BRDC F3 field where points leader Enaam Ahmed is out to keep his points lead over Toby Sowery in the final 3 meetings.
The British GT 2 hour race kicks off after lunch at 14:10 on Sunday. The F3 field have 3 races over the weekend, and also on track there is the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club +, VAG Trophy race, JCW Mini’s and VW Racing Club. In all a packed schedule, let’s hope the weather holds out for a weekend of racing in the garden of England.
