Andretti Autosport to Make GTD Debut at Laguna Seca

Andretti Autosport to debut GTD program at Laguna Seca this month.

Andretti Autosport is set to debut their new for 2023 GTD program at the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca later this month. The new GTD Aston Martin Vantage GT3 will be piloted by Jarett Andretti and Gabby Chaves. Sponsorship will come from Justhooit.com. The team is set to contest a select number of rounds of the IMSA Sprint Cup, while also competing in the LMP3 class in the Michelin Endurance Cup. It is unknown which rounds the team will contest after Laguna Seca.

Andretti stated, "We have been working toward growing into a GTD program since the end of 2020. And via our partnership with Justhooit.com and Corsa Horizon, we have been able to put a program together for some additional races this year with an eye toward a full season in 2024.” While Andretti has been mastering his craft in the LMP3 class, he does have some GT3 racing experience. He joined Ryan Briscoe and Jeff Westphal in last year's Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS driving a Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020. Andretti has also spent time behind the wheel of numerous GT4 machines in the Pirelli World Challenge.

Gabby Chaves is a veteran of numerous open wheel series in the United States, including IndyCar where he competed for teams such as Bryan Herta Autosport, Dale Coyne Racing and Harding Racing. In 2014, Chaves captured the Indy Lights Championship driving for Belardi Racing. In regards to his GTD debut, Chaves stated, "This is a fantastic opportunity to join a top manufacturer like Aston Martin with a great team that Jarett has put together to help us keep pushing for victories in sports cars. I’m very grateful and excited for my first go at a GT car. I am looking forward to the challenge a new program brings and motivated to learn and push myself to go toe-to-toe with the best GT drivers in the world.”
