AMR: Double Front Row Start 6hrs Mexico

Aston Martin Racing are poised to fight for GTE Pro and Am victory, after the team qualified on the front row in each class for tomorrow’s 6 Hours of Mexico. The #95 V8 Vantage GTE Pro of Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen will begin the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in second, after the pair found themselves battling throughout the session with the #71 Ferrari for qualifying honours. With the pair setting a combined average lap time of 1m39.534 – just 0.108 seconds adrift of pole – the Danes proved that once again they are a force to be reckoned with at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, even if they couldn’t quite snatch pole position.

In the sister #97 V8 Vantage GTE, Daniel Serra (BR) and Darren Turner (GB) set an average of `1m39.851, placing them fifth for tomorrow’s start. They’ll be joined by Jonny Adam (GB) for Sunday’s race. The #98 V8 Vantage GTE Am of Paul Dalla Lana (C), Pedro Lamy (P) and Mat Lauda (A) will also start from front row in the GTE Am class. Similarly to their #95 GTE Pro teammates, Dalla Lana and Lamy found themselves locked in an intense battle for pole. While unable to take the top spot with an average of 1m42.191, the trio will be looking to execute a strong performance tomorrow and claim further valuable points for their championship bid.

The 6 Hours of Mexico will begin at 12:00 local time on Sunday 3 September.
