Audi driver Benoît Tréluyer not at Nürburgring
While training on his mountain bike three-time Le Mans winner Benoît Tréluyer fell and injured his spinal column. The injury will heal without surgical intervention and have no further consequences. Highlights from the morning session of the Le Mans Test Day
Porsche heads the field with a 1-2 in LMP1, the fastest lap being a 3:22.334 set by Marc Lieb in the No.2 Porsche 919 Hybrid. Paolo Roberti has ruled himself out of this years Le Mans following a crash today at Hockenheim while teaching a student. The car he was driving suffered a technical problem with its brakes on the backstretch at 200kph. Audi has won the unusually tough second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) at Spa-Francorchamps. Audi to appeal exclusion from WEC 6h Silverstone results
In the very late evening it was announced that the stewards of the meeting received a report from the Technical Delegate explaining that the thickness of the front skid block of car no. 7 doesn’t comply with article 3.5.6 a3 of the LMP1 Technical Regulations. And so the no. 7 car was excluded from the results of the race, this meant that Porsche were the winners and Rebellion Racing were promoted to third over all. The Final 60 Minutes of the 6 Hours of Silverstone
With the sun still shining over the Northamptonshire circuit, the last 60 minutes proved the usual down to the wire ending that has became unanimous with the WEC championship. Heading into the final hour the No. 2 Porsche driven by Neal Jani had a 54 second lead over the second placed Audi of Marcel Fassler but the Porsche was still to pit. Jani pitted the Porsche on lap 161, and with only changing 2 tyres rather than 4 came out only 6 seconds behind the Fassler Audi.


Mid point report from Silverstone
The day started with not a cloud in the sky, much different to yesterdays snow storm which disrupted most of the mornings running. With the LPM1 hybrids formed up in a two by two team formation, the Audi’s lead the grid off on two formation laps. At 12noon the green flag, waved by actor and Porsche driver Patrick Dempsey fell, and the much anticipated 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship was underway.
