90 Seconds with Porsche
LMP1 driver, Earl Bamber
What would you be if not a racing driver?
I have no idea! I left school at 16 so I didn’t really plan ‘not’ to be one, I was like all in! I wasn’t racing for a couple of years and did some commentating ….
Do you have any pre-race superstitions?
No! I just get in and drive, I think it’s the best way, otherwise if you’re a bit superstitions and something happens with your routine then...
What is your favourite racing circuit?
I have three on my wall at home: Macau, Le Mans and Nürburgring.
Who do you admire the most?
This is really tough! I think it’s changed over the years to be honest, when I started with Porsche in the Carrera Cups the guy I admired was actually Craig Baird, he’s the guy that’s won the most ever Carrera Cups, but also very good at racing, and generally he does a good solid job, now I’m not really sure, that was a really special point, I got to race against him and used to benchmark myself against him so to win against him was a really good confidence builder, right now….
I hate that question, that’s the worst question you could ask me, let’s move on!!!
Favourite food?
What I really love at the moment is chowza, they are a Chinese dumpling! They’re amazing!
Which other series would you like to race in?
NASCAR! (Earl found this an easy one to answer!)
What road car do you drive?
Ford Ranger… my ‘company car’ is a Cayanne GTS.
Most memorable racing moment?
Winning here (Le Mans!)
Do you have any tattoo's, if so what and where (be honest!)?
Yes! Both on my shoulder: one is my age, the second is the family moto (but don’t ask me to remember it!!)
Earl competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), including the Le Mans 24 Hours, in a Porsche 919 Hybrid for Porsche.
