Podium finish for Matt Palmer in Zandvoort

It was the "fly away" race of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge season at the weekend. Hosted by the legendary Zandvoort Circuit as part of their British Race Festival Weekend.

Qualifying took place on a damp track but a dry line in places. Matt gambled on it drying out and went out on slicks for the entire session. The gamble paid off and on the last lap of the session I put it on P4 for race 1.

Race 1: Matt made a good start and was in touch with the top 3 for the majority of the race however contact whilst defending 4th position with two laps to go, putting him into a spin and dropping down the order. Matt managed to salvage 11th place by the end of the race. Matt said "it was a disappointing result especially with the pace we showed"

Race 2: Matt Started 11th and was making his way through the pack and made it up to P8 but with 4 minutes of the race remaining however the safety car came out and cut the race short halting any more progress through the field.

Race 3: It was a top 9 reverse grid so Matt was starting P2. "I made a good start and got into the lead and started to gap the field, however I lost a bit of time through a yellow flag section which put the field back on me" Matt said. "I was caught and dropped down to P3 but hung on until the safety car was deployed once again with around 4 minutes to go and the race finished under safety car conditions"

In all a good weekend for Matt racing in the Pro class putting him now into 10 position overall in the championship with 131 point and 2 round remaining.
