6hrs at The Ring

With less than 20 days to go all thoughts have left the Circuit de la Sarthe and are now focused on the Nürburgring, the famous circuit nestled in the Eifel Mountains about 100kms south of Cologne. Stepped in history, and with the old circuit wrapping itself around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg, this circuit is a must visit for any fan. With a chance to drive the old circuit, how could it not be!

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, the 1920’s ‘Green Hell’ (as nicknamed by Jackie Stewart) will not be in use. Instead our beloved flock of 2016 will be chasing each other round the 3.2 mile long GP-Strecke constructed in 1984.

This is not only a home race for German marques Porsche and Audi, but with both Toyota Gazoo and a hefty-sized Ford plant based in Cologne, there will be a lot of local support.

The #1 Porsche of Bernhard, Webber and Hartley will be hoping to repeat their win of last year and put their not so good 24 Heures result firmly behind them. But rest assured, the Toyota Gazoo team will equally be keen to distance themselves from their heartbreaking Le Mans result. With Porsche currently leading Audi in the Championship by some 32 points, there will definitely be a 6 car battle up front!

So, if you do plan on visiting the Nordschleife take our advice, make sure your tyre pressures are what they should be!
